If you are anything of a fashionista or a clothing aficionado, you’re probably dying to be able to take out that adorable pea coat hanging at the back of your closet, waiting to be worn, or to be able to throw on a simple scarf without breaking a full sweat. As we make our way into the fall season, many of us on the West Coast are still having to deal with the unusually high seasonal temperatures and it is giving us little-to-no options to avoid serial outfit repeating.
For those of you in the work world who have already worn all of your summer work wardrobes to death, I have a perfect solution to help guide you into the fall season flawlessly without breaking the bank. A great way to refreshen that summer wardrobe and ease into a more fall transitional look, is by throwing on warm pieces from your own closet to accentuate your lighter ones. A great way to do this is by choosing great basic pieces like a dress, and picking materials like a mid-weight blazer or jacket with warm materials like a thick cotton. There’s no need for that heavy coat just yet, but a mid-weight blazer with a warm tone, can help bring those lighter pieces into fall mode.
I took this structured khaki colored belted dress from Foreign Exchange, and paired it with a navy blue blazer, detailed with light brown elbow patches from H&M to create this look. I wanted to keep it very neutral with beiges and browns, so I paired the look with my semi-low pointed heels to pull in the brown from the jacket. I think this is still very summery, but a great way to start transitioning into fall while we still have to battle the warm temps. The warm tones give the look a fall feel, with the navy blue blazer accenting the lightly colored dress without being too bright, which would make this look feel summery. This makes for a great work look with the high collar, and semi-low heels–easy to work all day long in. I also paired this outfit with a dark purple fall color toned Mizrahi side purse. Perfectly fits keys, a phone and all the essentials of the day. I mixed some gold toned jewelry to keep with the fall vibe, wearing drop-down earrings and a rose-gold crème studded watch. This look was shot in Downtown Los Angeles. How do you transition into fall?
